Narrative
On 10/24/2022 at 09:30, a leak was discovered at the doe manifold. An estimated 2-3 barrels of crude oil was released based on site conditions at initial discovery. A contractor and local operations personnel were summoned to the site to begin cleanup and investigation. On 10/25, the investigation and excavation continued without locating the leak location. On 10/26, a wider area was excavated and an additional released product volume (50 bbls) was identified. Based on the discovery of increased volume of product and required soil remediation it was determined that costs would exceed $50k and the nrc was notified immediately following determination. On 10/27, excavation and cleanup continued. Leak site was identified. Visual examination determined that the release was caused by internal corrosion. A plidco mechanical repair clamp was installed. On 10/28, 48 hr. Nrc notification made. The line was returned to service on 11/1/22.
