Narrative
On 10/10/2022 at 18:00, a farmer called in an approximate 20'x20' stain on the surface of the row. The control center shutdown the pipeline and operations local operations team was dispatched to the area and conducted a row inspection. The crew discovered a leak on the 12-inch corsicana to tyler line. Approximately 400 barrels of crude oil was released. The segment was isolated by closing manual block valves. The area was excavated and the leak source identified and examined it was determined the failure was caused from an external corrosion pinhole. A mechanical plidco clamp was installed at 21:35. On 10/13, the torque on clamp was re-verified and the line was restarted at 20:30. Cathodic protection potentials in the area were above required criteria. The most recent in line assessment identified external metal loss at the failure point below actionable levels. Updated information was supplied to the tool vendor and the run was regraded and is currently being revalidated. The pipeline is currently on a shortened integrity assessment frequency in order to more closely monitor corrosion growth rates. The failed section of pipe has been cut out and replaced.
