Narrative
On september 27, 2022 at 11:45 am, the houston control center (hcc) received a gas detector alarm at the ngl sulphur pump station. The ngl sulphur pump was previously isolated and not in use during the gas detector alarm. Hcc dispatched local personnel to the pump station to investigate the alarm. The pipeline technician arrived on site at 12:20 pm and confirmed a leak on stainless steel tubing near the pump. The technician isolated the tubing leak at 12:30 pm. It was determined that a crack developed in the tubing fitting near the valve manifold on the loutex ngl pump piping. The tubing bracing was found to be loose, allowing tubing to vibrate and crack. The bracing was re-secured so the tubing would not incur any vibration. A station review of all bracing was performed to ensure no other bracing was loose. The pump station was returned to normal operation.
