On 8/3/2022 at 23:45 cst, enterprise terminal operator discovered tank #5665 mixer seals were leaking crude. Movements into the tank were immediately shut down. It was estimated that 0.70 barrels of crude oil reached the ground. Seal failure occurred because of excessive start-stop events during the initial fill of tank #5665 which affected the mixer's seal allowing crude oil to leak. All soil has been remediated from the leak site. To prevent recurrence, the seal has been replaced and tank mixers will be locked out prior to initial use to avoid excessive start-stop events which could potentially affect the integrity of the seal.
