On monday, july 25, 2022, at approximately 10:00 (cst) an explorer pipeline employee was in the process of draining an isolated above grade effluent tank from an oil water separator system for decommissioning and removal. The remaining contents from the above grade effluent tank were to be gravity fed to an active sump. An hdpe connection that was being utilized for the draining of the out of service effluent tank cracked, and the contents was released. Approximately 6.7 gallons (0.16 barrels) of transmix was contained in the effluent that was released. The contents were totally contained on the property.
