Narrative
On june 19, 2022, a third party notified centurion pipeline, l.P. On the terrell to caprock segment near odessa, texas in ector county, texas. Cpl's employee arrived on site at 2:00pm and confirmed a leak on the terrell to caprock segment approximately one mile north of cpl's terrell station. Cpl isolated the leak by turning off the lact units on the terrell to caprock segment. Cpl reported the leak to texas railroad commission (trrc) at 02:26pm. One (1) barrel of crude oil was released and recovered. No injuries, fatalities or fires were associated with this incident. Repairs have been completed and anticipated completion of backfill is july 26th, 2022. The root cause failure analysis is ongoing. The resulting information related to the cause, preventative and mitigative measures (p&m), and update to costs, if applicable will be submitted via supplemental reports. Supplemental report filed on august 16, 2022: corrected parts c.3g. And e.2. To reflect accurate information. Cpl determined that rock debris shielded the cathodic protection (cp) which caused external corrosion and scale buildup. The scale buildup on the outside diameter (od) further shielded the cp and exacerbated the external corrosion damage. During the backfill of the permanent repair, the rock debris was removed and no further actions are required.
