Narrative
Operator on call was notified by icc (dcp remote monitoring center) that rattlesnake booster went down on low discharge pressure to barney booster at 11:49 pm cst on 11-8-22. Operator reviewed scada pressure trends and determined that there was a pipeline failure between rattlesnake and barney boosters. Operator drove to barney booster and shut the block valve at 12:35 am cst on 11-9-22 isolating the line. Rattlesnake booster's discharge block valves closed automatically due to low discharge pressure shutdown set points. Operator located failure point and ensured site was safe. Failed pipe cut out and sent for laboratory analysis. Metallographic examination indicated internal corrosion due to presence of CO2. Pipeline repaired and returned to service. Release determined to be reportable based on unintentional gas loss volume calculation on 11-9-22 at 12:30 pm cst. Updated report to reflect end of daylight savings time per PHMSA instruction. Final report 5/24/23. No changes other than checking the final box.
