At about 15:16hrs 19sep2022 enterprise control room was contacted by the nueces county sheriff department concerning a grass fire in the vicinity of an enterprise gas pipeline. The controller immediately dispatched field personnel to investigate. At about 15:50hrs field personnel arrived on site then contacted enterprise control room confirming a pipeline failure and fire. The local fire department were on site already. The fire was allowed to burn-out. At about 16:00hrs field personnel began closing manual valves; the last one (valve #3) was closed at 16:10hrs, totally isolating the rupture site. At about 17:30hrs the fire had extinguished itself, and we were able to safely inspect the site. The fire department did not evacuate landowners or close roads. The failure segment was cut-out; west side on 30sept2022, east side on 07oct2022. Both cut-outs were sent to the lab on 10oct2022. The abandonment of the pipeline was completed on 27feb2023. Based on a metallurgical analysis, external, general corrosion was the cause of the failure. The rrc was contacted on 19sep2022 at 17:06hrs. Trrc incident number 2706
