Narrative
On 8-6-2022 at 00:01 cst, enterprise received a shutdown alarm from the mack station compressor unit 1. At 00:50, enterprise arrived at the station and saw that unit 1 was on fire. At 00:51, enterprise isolated and blew down the station by pushing the esd button. The glasscock police department and the stanton volunteer fire department arrived at the station on 00:49 and 01:30, respectively. At 02:25, enterprise determined that the event would meet the definition of an incident based on anticipated costs of the unit 1 fire. Units 1 and 2 are leased by enterprise from archrock and the costs to repair or replace the units are not available to enterprise. The nrc and txrrc were notified of the event by enterprise at 02:47 and 02:52, respectively. On 8-6-2022 at 06:45, the fire self-extinguished. Unit 2, which is adjacent to unit 1, was damaged by the fire; however, no station piping was involved in the fire. Mack station was out of service from 8-6-2022 to 8-28-2022. Unit 1 was removed from mack station and a replacement for unit 1 was placed into service on 8-29-2022. Unit 2 was repaired and placed into service on 9-23-2022. An investigation of the incident determined that an abnormal vibration from the second stage discharge receiver caused bolts on the pipe flanges to loosen which caused a loss of containment. Natural gas made contact with an ignition source and caused a fire.
