Narrative
At approximately 10:02 am cdt on july 31, 2022, a 2-inch relief valve began venting at a meter and regulating station (mr 70095) as the result of a regulator failure. A nearby resident reported that the relief valve was venting. The regulator failure was caused by a buildup of material in the regulator pilot line. The pilot line was cleaned, and the regulator was placed back into service on the same day. At the time of the event, it was unknown how long the relief valve had been venting. A later review of data (scada) on august 2, 2022, showed that the relief valve had been venting for approximately 4 hours resulting in a 3.490 mmcf calculated gas release. Pressure alarms at the regulator station were adjusted to help in identifying similar events.
