The excavator did not have a locate ticket. The contractor did call in a locate request after the main had been damaged. The leak was stopped by installing stopper fittings at approximately 12:30 am. Gas blew for approximately 12 hours. Denc management decided to make a PHMSA notification due to the concern that our repair costs would exceed $129,300 and that this event would be considered significant in nature. Repairs have been completed and the line is back in service.
