Narrative
On saturday july 16th pse&g received notification that a downed jcp&l electric wire that found its way to nearby metal guard rail and resulted in the ignition of a 6 inch 60 lb. Steel main located at 55 rt 24 in chester township. The location of the ignition involves a bridge. The main was throttled and temporary bypass was installed to continue to service customers. The location of the downed wire was 2 miles away from the ignition location. The cause for how the wire came into contact with the guard rail is unknown at this time. There are no indications at this time that any type of damage was involved. A permanent repair plan is being developed at this time.
