On october 21, 2021 explorer pipelines control center received a vapor monitor alarm, initiated a pipeline shutdown, and conducted a callout to confirm the alarm. When the explorer pipeline callout employee arrived, they confirmed that the control valve was seeping. The control valve bushing and seal were replaced and were submitted to a third party for a failure analysis. The release volume was calculated to be 10 gallons or 0.2 barrels of gasoline per PHMSA guidelines. Any impacted soil was tested, and was properly managed.
