Narrative
The driver was traveling east on ridgeview dr. And failed to control his speed and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck the center median, crossed the westbound lanes, and traveled into the back entryway of lifetime fitness. The vehicle hit the gas meter at the back of the lifetime fitness building at 971 hwy. 121 in allen tx. Igniting a fire. The car was on fire and sitting on the curb valve. The valve could not be accessed to shut the gas off so the polyethylene gas line feeding the meter had to be excavated and squeezed to stop the flow of gas and put out the fire.* there are several natural barriers that would prevent something like this from ever happening again. The car had to be on its side to be able to fit between the concrete wall and the very large tree protecting the meter. The valve was re-located across the street to ensure that there will be accessible in the event something else happens to the meter.
