Narrative
A third-party contractor damaged a un-marked 3" steel gas main during horizontal boring. The 3" gas main was not located by pg&e and was struck by a 10" reamer causing a release of gas. Gas traveled in storm and sewer systems as well as communications vaults. Crews on site vented the gas to prevent further migration and isolate. Safe zones were established, and the fd assisted with evacuations within the established zone. There were no injuries and/or fatalities. This incident is being reported due to the damage threshold reporting criteria of $122k+.
