Hurricane sally cause a limb to fall on an electric high voltage line. When the line fell there was an electric fault sent to the residence at 3742 e highway 90, crestview, fl. The initial investigation appeared to indicate a structure fire that cause a secondary damage to the gas meter at the house. The gas meter was damaged and the escaping gas ignited. The damage to the residence appears to be more than $50,000 at first inspection. Supplemental finding - the gas meter does appear to have been damaged and electric power line fault which would be designated as a secondary ignition not a release of gas. In conjunction the estimated value of the residence was based on the valuation of the structures on the whole property which include two residential structure totaling $125,457. The damaged structure as a result has an estimated value of $39,000 which would be under the $50,000 threshold as well. Please note that the existing line is out of service and will be reinstated per the customers request.
