Narrative
On 12/2/19 a km operator found a 2oz leak inside pit 4. A pinhole leak was identified in the bottom header of pit 4, the section of pipe was isolated, the product was cleaned and the weld repaired. The saddle weld installed by gatx in 1977 was not designed to endure the mechanical stress cause by 40 years of wear. Plan to prevent reoccurance: weld was grinded out and new weld installed with thicker metal per current kinder morgan standards. Other welds in pit 4 to be inspected to identify current condition and repair or replace as necessary.
