During pipeline startup the backpressure valve diaphragm failed. Eddy hobbs from bkep was onsite and discovered the release. Scout (fain plant owner) called out red j services, llc (po box 52408 amarillo, tx 79159) to handle cleanup as they are the site owner. Cleanup was completed on the same day as the release. Bkep replaced the ruptured diaphragm and returned the line to service. Bkep has evaluated the need for more frequent inspections. Going forward, valves in the system with this type of diaphragm will have a more frequent inspection schedule.
