Narrative
This is a supplemental/final report for incident report number 20190130-32930 dominion energy responded to a call from durham county 911 at 4:20 am on 10/15/19 reporting a fire at 1003 fayetteville st. In durham nc. Our service tech arrived on scene to find the building on fire. We were informed by the fd that there had been a fire at the service riser. The fd had turned off the service cutoff to put the fire out at the riser. The building was fully involved and was quickly put out. The gas meter and regulator were destroyed in the fire. Steve wood, with the ncuc was notified by email at 6:23 am on 10/15/19 and a voicemail message at 6:33 am. The initial nrc report with usdot by phone at 7:32 am. The service line was repaired and retired at 10:53 am. The apparent cause was an interior fire set by igniting tires around meter set. According to the durham fire department fire marshal, the available evidence indicates that this fire was intentional arson. However, an official cause could not be determined and could not be officially documented by the fire department.
