Narrative
On october 9th 2019 at approximately 12:30 a norfolk southern train derailed on hwy 247 spur @ sandbed rd. Poking a hole in the 8" gas main belonging to the city of warner robins ga. The warner robins gas department responded to the 911 call and proceeded to implement its emergency plan and established contact with houston county fire department's incident command. During coordination with incident command warner robins gas located its closest critical valves and proceeded to shut down the damaged segment. All customers affected were locked off and notified of the temporary shutdown. After depressurization occurred warner robins gas department contacted their contractor to install a cap of the line segment in order to reestablish all customers lost during the shutdown except one interruptible industrial customer at the end of the line segment. The undamaged line was then purged and reinstated and all customers were turned on and relit according to the warner robins restoration of service procedures in appendix m of the warner robins emergency plan manual. During norfolk southerns' clean up and removal of the 26 derailed cars other damages to the pipeline occurred necessitating 2000 feet of the 8" main be replaced. At this time, approximately 80% of the replacement process has been completed. The city of warner robins expects reinstatement of the main to occur on or about november 8th 2019.
