Narrative
On july 5, 2018 at approximately 0900, two enlink pipeline operators where at the black coyote facility performing normal duties when they discovered crude oil leaking from a back pressure control valve. Both operators quickly stopped the flow of crude oil at 0905 by closing the valve up stream and then the valve down stream of the leak. A little under 5 gallons of crude oil leaked out of the valve. During the leak investigation when the valve was removed, it was determined that the leak was caused due to a damaged seal. The valve was sent off to the manufacture to see why the seal failed. The manufacture sent a report to enlink stating that the seal failed due to debris/trash in the line or due to flange being torque to wrong specs. *did not click final when submitting 30-day report. A supplemental report is not needed.
