Narrative
A 3/4 inch pipe and nipple connection on the bottom of the strainer on p300 had cracked and leaked. The nipple was replaced and an investigation was initiated. Supplemental: the nipple was sent for analysis. The results of the metallurgy report indicated that the fracture in the nipple was most likely caused by fatigue driven by vibration. The report also indicated that no apparent manufacturing anomalies or discrepancies were evident in the analysis of the nipple.
