Narrative
During a tdot highway widening road project, prime contractor delta contracting co. And sub-contractor martin contracting inc. Was relocating a natural gas main and martin contracting inc. Was purging a 6" steel main thru a 2" steel to 2" pe transition pipe with a 2" pe valve underground when the purging location ignited at the purging location, and the fire injured a city of savannah utility employee. Upon the injury the natural gas was turned off at the 6" steel valve approximately .08 miles to the south on pickwick street, highway 128 south to stop the flow of natural gas. City of savannah fire department extinguished the remaining fire after the natural gas was turned off.
