Narrative
Update for supplemental report: no new information has become available to US for this report. At this time we have still been unable to verify the details of what happened and the actual injuries that may have occurred during this event. Our employees were told that one or more individuals were taken to the local emergency room and then flown out to a trauma center for burn injuries. Original description: please note that most information, other than incurred damage is heresay. Local police departments were contacted in order to gather more information and confirm any information we had, however no police reports were filed and they had no additional or confirming information. On the evening of july 25th, two individuals were apparently trespassing on private property and on citizens gas utility district right-of-way. The individuals were riding in a side by side utv and it appears as if they struck a 1" pipe that had previously been used to expel drip gas from the pipeline. When our crew arrived they found the side by side had been on fire and the individuals in question had left the scene with another third party and been taken to the local hospital. We are uncertain of the extent of injuries to the individuals involved in the incident. Nothing else in the area appeared to have been on fire. The 1" line had been broken below an installed shut off valve, but the pipeline had almost blown down by the time our crew arrived due to the placement of a check valve in the main line and a valve being shut off at the gas source at a nearby compressor station that is operated by another entity.
