Narrative
A dcp ngl field technician introduced a volume of liquid ngl greater that the flare capacity which in turn caused flaming liquid droplets to escape from the top of the flare and settle around the base igniting the flame arrestor which had a leaking gasket and a cardboard box. This flare design was investigated and found to be faulty and three other dcp stations were determined to have the same design and were shut in immediately. Dcp will correct the flare and flame arrestor design and equipment used to prevent this from happening again. Texas rrc (rrc report number 1643).
