Narrative
During a routine survey, nustar operating personnel discovered a leak on a 6-inch auxiliary valve at mainline valve mbv240. The pipeline system was shutdown. The flanged valve was removed, and permanent repairs were made by blinding the flange. Update - the failure was due to internal corrosion of the valve's soft iron bonnet gasket, and, to a lesser extent, corrosion of the valve body gasket seat.
