Narrative
On july 17, 2017 at approximately 20:40 pipeline control received a high gas alarm on the p62 pump at beaumont terminal. Technician arrived on site and discovered a release of ethane that was estimated to be approximately 10 barrels. The cause of the leak was determined to be cracked welds on three of the tubing connections on the pump- the cooling loop, the seal flush tubing loop, and the 1" balance line on top of the pump. The pump was placed in lock-out tag-out, the tubing connections were replaced, and the pump was returned to service.
