Narrative
Approximately 10 bbls of crude oil were released from the bottom of tank 1586 as a result of corrosion. Plains operator discovered the small seep, which occurred during activities to permanently take the tank out of service. The tank has been cleaned and will not be placed back into service. The type of the corrosion is still being determined at this time. A supplemental report will be submitted once the type of corrosion is confirmed. Supplemental narrative: following field examination of the tank bottom, the cause of failure was determined to be internal corrosion as a result of microbiologically-influenced corrosion (mic). Part g has been updated to reflect this information. Based on an additional internal assessment, part c, number 2 has been revised from terminal/tank farm to breakout tank or storage vessel.
