Narrative
On 11-11-16 a pump seal on a stripper pump failed releasing 7 barrels of product into containment. A failed check valve allowed the pump to rotate backwards, damaging the pump shaft and impeller of the pump which caused the viton seal to fail. The product was recovered, the pit was cleared and the pump was pulled. The pump was rebuilt and the check valve was replaced. 9/28/2017 - this report was opened in error.
