Narrative
On 08/24/2016 at approximately 21:30 local operating personnel noticed approximately 35 gallons of crude oil had backed up from the azalea sump into the prover drain pan. All lines feeding the sump were isolated to stop the over fill of the pan. After all lines were closed it was determined that the outlet check valve on the sump was stuck in the open position allowing crude to continuously back flow. The check valve was replaced, all crude cleaned up, and the lines were restarted. The examination of the faulty check valve determined that there was a build-up of paraffin.
