Approximately 1 bbl of crude oil was released as a result of a valve misalignment, during normal operation. A local operator failed to close a valve, causing a thermal relief valve to relieve into the station main sump. The valve has been replaced and an automatic shut down switch will be installed on the sump, in order to prevent reoccurrence.
