On 7/5/2016 maintenance personnel performing a routine station check discovered a small release of crude oil under the scraper trap at nome station. The facility was down at the time of discovery. Investigation revealed that a 2" union on the piping from the scraper trap to the reinjection pump had leaked due to thread sealant failure. The union was removed, threads cleaned, new thread sealant applied and the union was reinstalled. The contaminated soil was remediated onsite. The tx rrc pipeline safety division was notified of this release at 16:30 on 7/5/2016. The accident was assigned case no. 1376.
