Narrative
A third-party excavator was working in an area of clearly-marked gas facilities. While performing trenching work, the excavator struck an 8" pe main owned by atmos energy operating at 19 psig. The gas ultimately ignited requiring atmos energy to isolate the damaged section. This resulted in the interruption of gas service to 1,424 customers.
