Narrative
On february 19th, at approximately 12:15 pm, cnp received a call from a local water department employee stating that a track hoe was buried in a creek at the intersection of hwy 8 & tracelwood and that a gas line had ignited catching the track hoe on fire. Upon arrival, it was determined that the track hoe was clearing right of way under the power lines paralleling hwy 8, had gone over a concrete wing wall of a culvert, slid into the creek and buried itself in the creek in which cnp had a buried 3" plastic gas line. The gas line under the creek was broken by the weight of the track hoe track and ignited causing the track hoe to catch fire in the engine compartment. Cnp worked to excavate bellholes at a safe distance on both side of the main break. Gas was shut off at 2:15 pm. Repairs will require a 300' bore of the creek.
