A spectra energy employee discovered bubbles in ponding water over texas eastern transmission, lp 36-inch line 25 near tremont, mississippi in itawamba county on february 24, 2016. The pipeline was excavated and a pinhole leak in the dsaw long seam weld was observed. Metallurgical analysis was performed, and the leak was the result of a pinhole leak with a diameter of approximately 0.043'. The pinhole was due to porosity in the seam weld. The pipe had been hydrostatic tested in 1965 to 1,378 psig (1.47 x maop) with no leak detected.
