Narrative
A butt fusion joint on a 3 inch pe plastic main failed resulting in a leak. The natural gas migrated into a nearby residential basement and ignited. The leak was located under a tree which was determined to be placing stress on the pipe and was a contributing factor to the joint failure. The main was permanently repaired.
