Narrative
At the bv station on hwy 259 south of lone star tx, it appears that lighting struck or hit very near an above ground valve setting. A small fire was reported by the morris county sherriff department. The fire was emitting from instrument tubing on the valve assembly. The tubing experienced a failure at the cathodic protection insulator that was either damaged as a result of the lightning strike or had already experienced a small leak then was then ignited due to the strike. A small fire extinguisher was used to snuff the fire and the instrument tubing valve was used to isolate the tubing.
