The operator of stolen vehicle struck an outside meter set while attempting to evade law enforcement. The vehicle went off the road, lost control and struck the meter. The gas supplying the meter ignited and caused damage to the adjacent apartment building. Gas was made safe approximately 1.5 hours after the incident occured.
