Narrative
On july 14, 2015, a contractor was grading earth for street widening when he struck a 6 in. Steel gas main causing a leak. Crews responded and controlled the leak. No injuries resulted from the gas leak. All repairs to the damaged main were completed and all the affected customers were restored. Investigation of the incident showed that there was a valid USA ticket for the contractor and that the 6 in. Main was properly marked. Marks were visible before and after the damage area but not visible in the approximate area where the damage occurred likely due to the contractor removing the marks while grading was performed. This incident was reported to cpuc and DOT due to a release of gas and the associated cost of the damage exceeding $50,000. For any further questions, contact khoa le at (626) 893-4536.
