Approximately 1.5 bbls of crude oil were released when a gasket on the top of the check valve failed. The plains station operator who discovered the release immediately contacted the control center and the operations supervisor who activated the response team to respond to the incident. The check valve was replaced with a new valve due to roughness on the seating surface.
