Narrative
During a leak patrol, southwest gas discovered a grade 1 leak on a two-inch pe stub at 3575 west tropicana avenue in las vegas, nevada. Southwest gas implemented a section of their valve isolation plan to quickly mitigate the situation and eliminate the leak. For this reason, service to 537 active customers was discontinued until repairs were completed. Although the incident initially did not meet PHMSA/DOT notification criteria, on september 9, 2014, southwest gas corporation estimated the costs associated with the incident would likely meet the criteria and immediately notified the national response center.
