A resident within the apartment community improperly operated their vehicle. The vehicle jumped the curb, crashed into the building where the outside meter set was located. The impact of the car to the building/meter set, severed the meter from the riser and the leaking gas ignited. No injuries or fatalities occurred. During an internal audit of unscheduled interruptions of service, it was noted that this incident was reported to the new york state department of public service but not filed with PHMSA.
