Approximately 6 bbls of crude oil were released when a 2 inch side valve on the suction side of a pump failed to seal closed. Once the release was discovered, the on-site operator immediately closed the pump's mainline suction and discharge valves. The closure of these valves isolated the release source thus stopping the release. The 2 inch side valve is in the process of being replaced.
