Narrative
At the time of the incident there was a national grid crew on location completing a low pressure to high pressure service upgrade. When the header alteration work was completed the service crew began relights for all the appliances in the building. Approximately 20 minutes after relighting apartment b4 the tenant reported a fire in the kitchen. The service person who completed the relight was interviewed and confirmed that before lighting the oven , he opened the door and checked for any unsafe conditions in compliance with national grid's gas work method-relighting gas appliances-document#cms04001. The fdny report is as follows: "examination showed that the fire originated at the subject premises, on the second floor, in apartment b4, in the kitchen area, within the natural gas oven, in combustible material (plastic house ware) from the heat of an open flame (natural gas burner). Fire extended to the contents of oven. Fire further extended to interior west kitchen wall cabinets and ceiling area above via direct flame impingement. Fire was therefore confined and extinguished.

Narrative
At the time of the incident there was a national grid crew on location completing a low pressure to high pressure service upgrade. When the header alteration work was completed the service crew began relights for all the appliances in the building. Approximately 20 minutes after relighting apartment b4 the tenant reported a fire in the kitchen.
