On january 1st, 2013, a large concrete section of sr-16 under demolition by wsdot at the time, fell onto the pavement at the intersection of s. Tacoma way and sprague street. As a result, a leak occured on an underground gas line at this location. The event was reported to the washington utilities and transportation commission for a gas release exceeding 2 hours. On february 8th and at about 12:00pm, following a review of the cost of this incident, pse discovered that the cost of this event exceeded $50,000 and telephonicaly reported it to nrc.
