The leak took place on the beeson to lovington pipeline manifold, which is an intrastate nm transmission pipeline. The pipeline manifold is located in the confines of the hollyfrontier lea refinery. The cause of the leak was due to internal corrosion in the 3/4" bleeder valve nipple, which then leaked 45 gallons of crude oil onto soil. The flow of product was stopped and the leak was contained on-site. The contaminated soil was excavated and placed into environmental disposal bins. Please see below a summary of the response timeline. 10:44 am urbano received call from lea refinery control center. 11:15 am contractors arrive on-site. 10:55 am line isolated and leak contained. 1:45 pm repairs complete. 2:15 pm line operational. 4:55 pm nrc online report completed, rpt. # 1028672.
