Approximately 35 barrels of crude oil were released from the outer sleeve of a vertical centrifugal pump. The pump had been recently taken out of service, but remained connected to facility piping to be used in standby mode. External corrosion caused a hole in the outer sleeve of pump column. The incident was observed by plains local operations employee.
