Gas main valve 4570, to the east at audubon ave, was identified in case needed for main shut down, and three fire banks were excavated to the north, south, and east of mh 44060. Stoppers were installed in the main at all three locations and the fire was extinguished at 22:59 hours. There were no reported outages, no injuries and there was no media attention. This was a serious level incident and the US DOT, nys psc and nyc dep were notified.
