******mpfd final determination post-notification is natural gas was not involved. Report for record purposes only******* on wednesday, january 11, 2012 @ 13:58 hrs, westchester electric operations emergency response group (erg) feeney reported a house fire at 17 heritage drive, mt. Pleasant, n.Y. With possible natural gas ignition to the gas emergency response center (gerc). A code murre (multiple resource response event) was initiated and the gas operations erg, gas distribution services (gds), gas construction and supervision responded. Upon arrival, the one family home at this location was found engulfed in fire and there was natural gas fed fire at the outside gas meter set. The mt. Pleasant fire department (mpfd) was able to extinguish the fire at the gas meter, and turned off the outside service valve under gds' direction. The curb valve was located and turned off, and gas construction cut and capped the service due to the extensive structural damage caused by the fire. Due to the gas ignition and damage greater than $50,000.00, the u.S. Dot was notified of the conditions found. Upon completion of their investigation, mpfd chief malone later reported that the fire was not caused by natural gas, and that the gas fed fire was a result of the structural fire (secondary ignition). There are no reported injuries. The nys psc and US DOT were notified. This was an upgraded level incident.
