Narrative
On july 9, tank 3001 tank line at the cushing terminal was removed from service for cleaning and subsequent demolition. The associated tank header was drained down so that the tank valve could be removed. Once the valve was removed, the header was blinded off. In order for tanks 3002, 3003, and 3004 to resume normal operations, the tank header was refilled. After filling the header, the maintenance crew noticed a small amount of oil seeping out of the ground next to the tank 3001 line. The tank line was excavated to determine the source of the oil. A closer inspection revealed a pinhole leak in the bottom of the tank line where it rested on a concrete support. The inspection showed the pinhole leak was caused by internal corrosion. Tank 3001 and the associated tank line, which are currently isolated from the rest of the pipeline system, did not require repair as they are being demolished and removed from the system as noted above.
